I loved every page
Claudia works in an interesting and somewhat mysterious business—she verifies dating profiles. A client wonders if that match is lying, or wants to know why he’s always busy on the weekends, or if she actually has the job she says—and Veracity will do a little digging. (One should always read the fine print on those “click yes to accept terms and conditions.”) A determined singleton herself, Claudia loves the detective nature of the work, though most of her time is spent behind a computer. But when one of her clients dies by suicide shortly after having some facts verified, Claudia starts to wonder if she wasn’t murdered.
Jane Pek’s voice is dry, intelligent and so funny, and I especially loved her interactions with her family…the wealthy, workaholic brother, her beautiful, demanding sister, and her critical and hilarious Chinese mother. The Verifiers skips along beautifully, and I loved every page.
